Privacy Policy & Cookie Notice

(Last updated: Friday, November 15, 2024)

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect, for example, changes to the cookies I use or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. Please, therefore, re-visit this page regularly to stay informed about my Privacy Policy and use of cookies and related technologies.

Cookie Notice Short version:

This site uses its own cookies, as well as those of third parties, for functionality, which makes navigation of this website easy and safe for all users. Cookies are also used to measure and obtain statistical data about the navigation and use of the site to monitor performance that may affect future design and content.

You can configure and accept the use of the cookies and modify your consent options at any time in Cookie Settings.

Cookie Notice Full version:

This Cookie Notice explains how Alexander Fitness ("Alexander", “me”, “my”, "myself" and “I”) use cookies and similar tracking technologies, including SDKs (together, “cookies”) on or through my website at https://alexander.fitness/ (“Platform”), or when you visit an Alexander Fitness member’s profile (“User Profile”). It explains what these technologies are and why we use them, as well as your rights to control our use of them.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device. Website owners can use cookies for a variety of reasons that can include enabling the website to work (or work more efficiently), providing personalised content and advertising, and creating analytics. Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, me, Alexander) are called “first party cookies”. Only I can access the first party cookies I set.

Cookies set by parties other than myself are called “third party cookies”. Third party cookies enable third party features or functionality (e.g. like advertising, interactive content and social sharing) to be provided on or through the website. The parties that set these third party cookies on websites can recognise your device both when it visits the website in question and also when it visits other websites that have partnered with them.

Why do we use cookies?

We use first party and third party cookies for several reasons. Some cookies are required for technical reasons that are strictly necessary to provide my services, and I refer to these as “essential” cookies. Other cookies also enable us to carry out analytics, to personalise and enhance your experience and/or to show you more relevant content and advertising.

In addition to the cookies used by Alexander Fitness for these purposes, Users can adjust their settings to set first and third party cookies in cookie consent tool (Cookie Settings).

The specific types of first and third party cookies that are served through this Platform, and the purposes they perform are described in the cookie consent tool.

What about other tracking technologies, like web beacons?

Cookies are not the only way to recognise or track visitors to a website. I may use other, similar technologies from time to time, like web beacons (sometimes called “tracking pixels” or “clear gifs”) on my website. These are tiny graphics files that contain a unique identifier that enable me to recognise when someone has visited this Platform or opened an e-mail that we have sent them. This allows me, for example, to monitor the traffic patterns of users from one page within my Platform to another, to deliver or communicate with cookies, to understand whether you have come to my Platform from an online advertisement displayed on a third-party website, to improve site performance, and to measure the success of marketing campaigns. In many instances, these technologies are reliant on cookies to function properly, and so declining cookies will often impair their functioning.

How can you control cookies?

In some countries (including where EU or UK law applies), you have the right to decide whether to accept or reject cookies. In any event you can exercise your cookie preferences through my cookie consent tool, which you can access by clicking Cookie Settings.

In relation to websites, you can also set or amend your web browser controls to accept or refuse cookies.

If you choose to reject cookies, you may still use my website or app though your access to some functionality and areas may be restricted.

In accordance with legal obligations, I comply with GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. This means that I process your personal data lawfully, fairly and transparently.

Data use

I process personal data such as your name, physical address, email address, telephone number, date of birth, treatment and advice given. This data is necessary for me to communicate with you and provide you with the best possible service, and ensure that you receive the appropriate treatment and advice.

Data storage

This website is hosted on the Wix.com platform. Wix.com provides me with the online platform that allows me to sell my products and services to you. Your data may be stored through Wix.com’s data storage, databases and the general Wix.com applications. They store your data on secure servers behind a firewall.  As per their policy here:  https://support.wix.com/en/article/gdpr-about-your-customers-data

All direct payment gateways offered by Wix.com and used by Alexander Fitness adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa and MasterCard. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by my website and its service providers. Therefore, I do not have access to your payment details such as card and account numbers unless you give them to me directly.

I also use computers and smartphones to access and store data. I have security protocols activated on all my computer hardware and software.

Data retention

As a massage and fitness business, I am required to keep treatment notes for 7 years, as per the terms of my insurance policy, in case of any legal claims. I take this obligation very seriously and ensure that your data is stored securely during this time. After the 7 years that I am obliged by the insurance company to keep notes, I will delete data when it is no longer needed (i.e. if you are no longer using my services).

Individual rights

You can request a copy of the data I keep about you and I will forward that as soon as possible (up to 21 days, allowing for holidays).

You can also request that I delete your data as soon as possible, and I will do so as soon as possible after the 7th anniversary of your visit, provided I do not become legally obliged to keep it for longer
